Aaron Frederick · Software Developer

Software that holds up when the timing, the data, or the hardware doesn't cooperate.

Seven years of production code across desktop, web, and real-time systems. I've shipped enterprise reporting platforms, synchronized competition buzzers down to the millisecond, and reverse-engineered USB hardware that came with no documentation at all, because most interesting problems don't arrive pre-sorted by tech stack.

About

One default response to a problem, not one specialty.

I'm a software developer based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, currently building automation tooling for a large healthcare enterprise by trade, and writing everything else (desktop apps, real-time systems, websites, the occasional piece of reverse-engineered hardware) on the side.

I don't have one specialty so much as one default response to a problem: figure out exactly what's actually happening, then build the smallest reliable thing that fixes it. That's meant C# and WPF for line-of-business tools, SignalR or raw sockets when timing genuinely matters, React and Supabase when the problem is really about data and people, and SQL Server underneath most of it.

My background in psychology shapes how I think about what software is actually for. A sermon study platform, a prayer-tracking app, a competition buzzer: the code is never really the hardest part. Understanding what the person on the other end of it needs usually is.

If your project doesn't fit neatly into "we need a website" or "we need an app," that's usually the kind I end up enjoying most.

Selected work

Six problems, six different shapes.

QuizNexus & BQCoach

Cross-platform tournament software

Tournament management and practice tools for a national quiz competition, including direct integration with physical buzzer hardware after reverse-engineering its undocumented USB-HID protocol.

Avalonia UI · .NET · SQLite · HID

QuizMaestro

Cross-platform coaching app

A practice and coaching tool for national Bible Quiz competition, built in AvaloniaUI to run on Windows, macOS, and iOS from a single C# codebase.

Avalonia UI · .NET · Cross-platform · iOS

TPI Participant App

Full-stack engagement platform

A React and Supabase web app supporting a church-wide prayer initiative, with anonymous identity management, streak tracking, and a locked pre/post Likert assessment, serving hundreds of participants across 20 sessions.

React · Supabase · Analytics

Apex Signature Builds

Brand identity & marketing site

Designed and built a complete visual identity and marketing site for a construction and carpentry business, from typography and color system through to the deployed site.

Web design · Branding · Static site

What I can build

Pick the shape your problem actually is.

Desktop

Internal tools & line-of-business software

Applications that need to live on Windows and talk to a real database: evaluation systems, scheduling tools, reporting platforms.

Real-time

Synchronization & hardware integration

Anything where timing is the actual problem: live scoring, networked input devices, or integrations with hardware that doesn't have a polished SDK.

Web

Full-stack web applications

Products that need a real backend, not just a brochure site. React (or similar) on the front, Supabase/Postgres or SQL Server underneath.

Data

Reporting & automation

Parsing messy legacy reports, automating exports, and building dashboards out of data that already exists but isn't usable yet.

Brand

Websites for small businesses

Clean, fast marketing sites for businesses that don't need (or want to pay for) a bloated CMS.

Let's talk

If it's a real problem, I'm interested.

Whatever the stack turns out to be. Send a note with what you're trying to solve, and I'll tell you honestly whether it's something I can help with.
